Bandon, OR - Back to Circles in the Sand

Something was missing in 2025 for me - I missed out on my annual trip to the southern coast of Oregon to be part of Circles in the Sand. So it was a must this year to get back there for my ninth visit to the unique installation that is part art, part spiritual, part whimsical, part sand, and all love.

I was able to attend two of the weekend draws, and both days brought incredibly ideal weather, with sunshine and blue sky out in force. For those unfamiliar with Circles in the Sand, it's an amazing organization that is worth visiting and supporting. I wear my Circles sweatshirt around my neighborhood proudly and often get asked about it.

I was able to help 'groom' or draw the labyrinth pattern on one of the days, which is a fun exercise in filling in large areas, being precise with a rake, and getting distracted by the ocean views and wildlife.

Each pattern is different and contains a number of treasures, from animal art to funky shells to inspirational messages. This year, "Find balance" was the one that spoke to me.

The photos below are from both the Saturday and Sunday draws on the weekend of Aug. 1 and 2. The last draws of the season will be Aug. 14 and 15. It all happens at Face Rock in Bandon, Oregon.
