Chenonceau, France - Over the river

Chateau Chenonceau, in France’s Loire Valley, has an incredible history, dating back to the 16th century. But there’s a dungeon on-site that’s even older, maybe from the 12th century. This house has been pivotal in French royal history (and to Catherine de Medici, among others) and is an architectural marvel as well. It is literally built on top of a river and spans the waterway as well. The inside is a full-on museum worth seeing.
The labyrinth-like maze here was much smaller in scope than some of the other chateau gardens in the area, but it’s still worth seeing. It is set apart from the main gardens so it is easy to miss.
