Culver City, CA - In the stones

I didn’t quite realize that I was in the labyrinth at the Stoneview Nature Center at first. The entire labyrinth is also part of the parking lot for the center, although it’s an overflow parking lot so ideally no cars are generally parked there. Instead, there are looping rock patterns in the ground across an adjacent parking area, and then, just before the trailhead, is a formal seven-circuit rock labyrinth, known as the Tree of Life Labyrinth. I was taken by the various swooping shapes across the entire 20,000 square foot open space, and the labyrinth itself was wide and welcoming. It’s a good way to start or finish a short hike on a trail at the center. According to the center, which is located at the base of a hillside in Culver City, the labyrinth was designed by Kat Skraba, an accomplished visual artist.
