The backdrop for this grass labyrinth is as New England as it gets. It sits behind a quintessential rural Maine church. It's so picture-perfect that the church itself, the Edgecomb Community Church, built in the late19th century, is itself on the National Register of Historic Places.
As for the labyrinth, grass paths with stones lining the way, it's a gentle, well-kept design and a pleasant visit.
The church has a wonderful photography story on its website showing the creation journey for the labyrinth. Seeing how an empty space turned, step by step, into a beautiful seven-circuit Chartres labyrinth is a fun gallery. This is in the town of Edgecomb, north of Portland not far from the Atlantic Ocean coast.
