Bandon, OR - Father's Day 2022 edition

"It's amazing what 12 rakes can do", was a good way to encapsulate the annual phenomenon that is Circles in the Sand. One of the organizers made that comment to me as we finished the final touches on this year's Father's Day edition of Circles in the Sand. I've been making a summer stop in Bandon, Oregon, at Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint, which is part of the protected Oregon Wildlife Coastal area. It's in southwestern Oregon and happens each summer on numerous weekend and weekday mornings. If you're not familiar, this site has all the details. But in short, a small dedicated team makes a huge, unique patterned labyrinth, random volunteers (like me!) help groom it and fill it in, anyone on the beach walks it for a while, and then the tide comes and washes the whole thing away. It's stunning. The photos below are from my amazing photographer. You should follow her on Instagram to see more great work.
