Damariscotta, ME - Private oasis

I came across this blog by happenstance. A relative who lives in Maine noted that he knew someone with a labyrinth in a backyard and I was welcome to visit. More and more, I'm getting private labyrinth recommendations, which is terrific.

This one is in the tiny town of Damariscotta, not far from Thomaston and Rockland, two fairly well-traveled coastal Maine towns. According to Wikipedia, Damariscotta is the oyster capital of the world. I have no idea why that claim is made, but I did have oysters around there and they were delicious.

The labyrinth itself is a rock pattern. It was half-covered in weeds and half cleared. I was tempted to help with the weeding but didn't have a lot of time to spare. And the half-and-half nature did make for a more interesting experience.
