Estacada, OR - Among the fir trees

This one is in a grand setting, precisely in the middle of a large grove of fir trees, and set back from the parking area and the church itself. Leaves and branches cluttered many of the paths, but this is a wide enough labyrinth that it was possible to clear off most of them and walk the circuits. This is at Springwater Presbyterian Church, a welcoming place in the town of Estacada, a rural community about an hour or so outside of downtown Portland.

The labyrinth here is based on the popular Chartres pattern, and is near a prayer and meditation garden space. On the day I visited, many of the surrounding trees were in their winter season, so the space was more open than it might be six month later.
