Providence, RI - Update - restored and ready

July 2023 - The Church of the Redeemer is an institution in Providence. It dates back to the late 1850s and has been a cornerstone in the community and neighborhood ever since. As a child, I went there for pancake breakfast and occasional concerts and other things. I haven't been back in many decades but on a recent trip, I tried to walk the labyrinth under the trees on the front lawn. It's a sprawling, non-traditional pattern and grass has mainly overtaken many of the stones so I couldn't walk the complete circuit. Still visible however is the distinctive center, a cross made of stained glass set into a concrete stone.

Update - June 2026

The labyrinth has been restored! Thanks to some careful work by a church groundskeeper, all the stones were dug up so they once more appear and form a walkable pattern. Grass will inevitably overtake some of them and make the circuit not quite as clear, but it's a fun gem in the middle of the lawn and worth enjoying.
